I bought a Mattone Barile Grand Oven kit five years ago and we loved it. A storm with very high winds came, snapping tall pine trees and yes, my oven took a direct hit. My family said “we can’t be without it”, so I ordered another kit through Brickwood ovens. New photos of the oven will be forthcoming! Brickwood Ovens is the way to go…
Arrrggh!!
Small consolation I’m sure, but the base survived as advertised. I seem to recall @BrickWood saying something about it abiding through anything short of a small bomb blast.
It looks like you’ve got some salvageable building materials there, and I hope the experience with building the now-smashed oven will speed you through the new build.
And of course, best wishes for everyone in your neighborhood following this storm. Thanks for sharing these photos!
I will rebuild! The process should be a bit easier doing it the second time around.
Getting fire clay is taking some time getting to me, so I anticipate starting a rebuild end of April. All good.
Oh no, I’m so incredibly sorry to hear about the loss of your oven — that’s truly gut-wrenching. As Matt mentioned, the base is built tough, practically bomb-proof, but unfortunately, the oven clearly didn’t fare as well. When you’re ready to start rebuilding, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email — I’ll make sure to send you a generous discount code to help ease the burden of rebuilding. Again, I’m really sorry this happened to you, and I hope we can help make things a bit better moving forward.

It hurts just to look at those pics. Insult to injury is that it’s a pine tree and you can’t even chop it up and burn it as revenge to make pizzas. ![]()
Best of luck going forward.
I’d be devastated if that happened to me. I would definitely rebuild it pizza is a way of life around here now. I hope your rebuild goes smoothly.
@dandtpa any updates on the rebuild?
Sorry to hear about your oven. I hope your family is safe! I hope the rebuild goes ok for you!!
