Pizza Oven Accesories—What You Got? What You Love/Hate?

Hello folks,
What do you consider your “must have” accessories for your pizza oven? And, where did you get them?

Anything that you’ve purchased that you don’t care for and why?

What’s not “really” needed, but really nice to have?

For the oven itself, there are three essentials:

  • bango peel - in addition to turning pizzas I use it to shuffle burning wood around, and add new chunks when the fire is at the back of the oven.
  • brass brush / scraper blade on a long handle for brushing off the brick floor, pushing the wood to the back of the oven
  • wooden peel for launching pizzas without any sticking

I also use the following which are nice to have but I could get by without:

  • Infrared thermometer. Most of the time I wait for the top of oven bricks to look white / clean as the indicator that the oven is hot enough for pizza
  • Regular steel slotted pizza peel for fetching finished pizzas. I use it occasionally, but most of the time my bango peel does the job.

I purchased a few pre seasoned steel rectangular lyods deep dish pizza pans online. I absolutely love them for making Sicilian style pizzas.

Well - that deep dish pizza looks absolutely delicious! Those are the first DEEP DISH pizza pics we have received, and I think you raised the bar pretty high!

Nicely done!

Thank you. It’s a honor sharing something new here. The deep dish has added another level of options when we have a pizza night. Some still prefer the hand tossed Neapolitan style while others prefer a bit more crunchy bottom crust.

This is what the crust thickness, and bottom looks like
