Do I need to use High-Temperature Mortar on the Edge / Border brick on the base?

When building the pizza oven base, common / inexpensive mortar mix is all you need to adhere your edge brick to the oven base.

The only place you want to use high-temperature mortar is where FIRE actually touches the mortar (inside the oven).

We are going to make this recommendation on Directions 2.0… but for today, go ahead and use standard mortar when mortaring your edge brick.
